Bernarda Škrabar Damnjanović is an expert in private investigations, strategic security, and corporate integrity. With more than two decades of experience, she combines operational investigative practice, academic research, and the systematic development of professional standards at both national and international levels. She serves as CEO of the Detective & Security Agency, recognized as one of the most respected investigative collectives in the region, and as President of the Expert Council of the Institute for Security and Strategic Research, where she contributes to the advancement of analytical, intelligence, and regulatory approaches within the security sector. As a PhD candidate in security studies and a holder of a master’s degree focused on the legal regulation of operational investigative methods, she continuously strengthens her professional practice through research-based insight. She is currently completing a second master’s degree in psychosocial counseling, expanding her expertise to include the human dimension of security and crisis environments. She is co-author and co-editor of the Commentary on the Detective Activity Act (ZDD-2), author of numerous academic and professional publications, and a regular contributor to leading legal journals Legal Practice and The Attorney. In the past year, she published two professional volumes and is currently preparing a scholarly monograph dedicated to the development of the detective profession. Within the framework of professional regulation, she is a member of the Detective Examination Commission, was the first Data Protection Officer of the Slovenian Detective Chamber, and the first Chair of the Commission for the Supervision of Detectives, serving for many years on its Executive Board. She is actively engaged in international professional associations and contributes to the shaping of ethical and professional standards in investigative practice. As a recognized speaker, she regularly presents at international conferences and professional forums; she has delivered a TEDx talk and was a finalist in the national “Speaker of the Year” selection. She also made history as the first female Dean of an international detective school in Bucharest. Her work is defined by intellectual integrity, high ethical standards, strategic vision, and the ability to integrate legal, operational, and human perspectives in resolving the most complex cases. For more than a decade, she has been a proud member of the Council of International Investigators (CII), which she considers her professional family. Within CII, she actively contributes to the organization’s development and conceived and leads the International Exchange Program, fostering cross-border collaboration and professional excellence.
