Each private investigator or private detective belonging to our organization meets strict membership criteria in line with our aim of maintaining the highest quality professionals within the private investigation business.

Our Code of Ethics met with universal approval by public law enforcement agencies, legislatures, and public officials. Hiring a private investigator belonging to our network gives you the confidence, professionalism and reliability you need.

We’ve been established for over 50 years and have around 300 carefully selected members worldwide.

Our head office is in the USA (Seattle) and we have regional directors all over the world.

Aims of the CII

Our aims are for the benefit of our commercial clients, our profession, and our members:

Create greater respect for the private investigation profession by operating ethically and with integrity on behalf of clients (our Code of Ethics)

Provide an enhanced quality of service for all clients by offering continuing education

Support the highest quality professionals in the private investigation business only

Disseminate information relating to the proper and appropriate standards of practice and thus enhance our profession

Encourage a greater association among owners and operators of private investigator and private detective agencies while developing mutual trust and respect
